District Foundation Representative
Fellow Optimists:
Many of the OI programs offered by clubs are financially sponsored by the Optimist International Foundation (OIF) and the Canadian Children Optimist Foundation (CCOF). These foundations provide scholarships for the Essay, Oratorical, and CCDHH competitions, as well as supporting the Childhood Cancer Campaign and the Internet Safety Education Programs.
Both foundations depend in a large part to the financial contributions from Optimist members each year. Programs like "Dime-a-Day", "President's Club", and the "Christain D. Larsen Award" combined with funds donated by clubs and raised at our District quarterly meetings help the foundations meet their obligations each year.
As part of the District Services Team, my role is to coordinate fund raising efforts for the foundations and on behalf of the foundations recognize those Optimist members who have made significant contributions over the past year. In particular:
- Encourage Club Foundation Reps to actively participate in Foundation promotions and Club giving.
- To act as the facilitator in fund-raising activities at the District Level.
- To provide an information table and effective award presentations at the quarterly District Conferences and Club events.
- Educate members in the District through quarterly presentations. Make members aware of the purposes and functions of the Optimist International Foundations.
We will be offering a training workshops about the OI foundations at some of our Quarterly District meetings. Check our District Meetings page for details on the workshops scheduled for the next meeting.
Need some help? Like to get some additional information on being a club foundation rep? I invite you to contact me and I will do my best to assist you.
