Introducing the Zone Lieutenant Governors

The Zone Lieutenant Governors are responsible for providing services to the Clubs, and support the District Team in their efforts to grow stronger membership, new clubs, expand service to local communities and foster Optimism throughout the District. We are pleased to introduce the Zone Lieutenant Governors for 2010-11:

Lieutenant Governor Zone 2: Jim Johannes (Bozeman Breakfast)

We welcome Jim Johannes to serve a second successive term as Lieutenant Governor for Zone 2. Jim became an Optimist in 2003 with his home club, the Bozeman Breakfast Optimist Club. He served as an Honor President for 2006-07.

Why did you become an Optimist?  "My 34 year career with the MSU Extension Service was, in part, devoted to 4-H youth development. While that was not the major focus of my work, it was always a part of my responsibility and after retirement I was looking for ways to continue to support youth development. Optimists provided that opportunity."

What do you enjoy most about being an Optimist?  "The Friendship and comradery with other members and the joy in supporting youth development in a broad spectrum of venues. Being a member of this organization has been both fun and rewarding."

What do you hope to accomplish in your District position this year?  That each club in the Zone bring in at least 2-4 new members and that each member think about bringing one new member.

Peggy served at the Honour President of the St. Albert Breakfast Club in 2002-2004.

What is the primary reason you continue to serve as an Optimist?  I enjoy the friendships made over the years and with the knowledge that each old and new members bring out the best in kids.

What do you enjoy most about being an Optimist?  Just the word "Optimist" makes you feel there is a lot of us with just that Optimism and your loving friends for life.
